What is the difference between an arborist and a tree trimmer?

It can be a common misconception that tree trimmers and certified arborists are one in the same but truth be told that when it comes to planting, pruning and caring for your trees, not all tree care services can provide the same tree care. There are several important distinctions between certified arborists and tree trimmers that every property owner should understand. While both services will usually offer some kind of tree trimming or pruning, only arborists are trained and educated to protect the trees health and property care for plants and trees.

All certified arborists at GTW have been trained and educated with the correct pruning technics and following Australian Standards Guidelines, which is important to ensure the overall health of the tree when pruning, it the correct course of action to improve the trees health. The health, appearance and lifespan of a tree depends largely on how it is planted and pruned. Certified arborists are trained to not only plant trees to the correct depths, but also understand how to provide ideal growing conditions for a sapling. Tree trimmers without a certificate may not know the correct depth for planting trees or may over-prune the tree, which both can damage and even kill otherwise healthy trees, so it is important to ask your ‘tree trimmer’ if they are certified to complete the task you have given them. They may be cheaper, but you will end up with a dead tree in the long run!
